Description
What projects should an organization invest in? Where will an organization obtain finance to pay for investments? How will an organization manage day-to-day financial activities such as cash collections and payments? These are some of the questions that you will be addressing in this course on Financial Management. The purpose of this course is to provide students with an overview of the problems facing financial managers in an uncertain world. It is intended to develop students critical thinking and problem solving competencies in financial statement analysis, capital structure, and capital budgeting. The course is focused on applying financial theory to analyze real-life situations with students placed in the role of a financial manager making decisions in an uncertain environment with an incomplete data set. This is a 3-credit course, requiring a minimum of 18 hours of course engagement each week in an 8-week term, or 9 hours per week in a 15-week term (refer to the Credit Hours Calculation Policy in the Student Handbook), Course engagement includes such activities as discussions, reading, study time, and assignments.
